ABOUT THE HOPE THREADING JIG:
Its called the easy-set threading jig because the depth cut is done by twisting the outer (silver round handle) clockwise to push the main body into the cut. The handle has an internal click system so 9 twist clicks give you the depth for the 12 TPI , 7 twist clicks gives you the depth for the 14 TPI, 5 twist clicks gives you the depth for the 16 tpi and 3 twist clicks give to the depth for the 20 tpi. The handle on the back gives a 6" swing so you can rotate under control easily.
The 20, 16 ,14 and 12 tpi parts are machined with the front thread out of one piece. This gives ultimate accuracy, unlike systems where the thread adapters have to be attached to a common holder.
THREADS NOW AVAILABLE ARE:
- 3/4 X 16 TPI 16 and 12 tpi
- 1" x 8" TPI 16 and 12 tpi
- M30 x 3.5 16 and 12 tpi
- M33 x 3.5 full range
- 1 1/14 x 8 full range
- 1 1/2 x 6 tpi, 16 and 12 tpi

So much better than the hand tools
I'd been using the hand tools for making threads for a while. It was difficult to get consistent and decent results in anything but the hardest and most dense woods. Oak? Forget it. But with this tool I can get decent threads in anything, even CLS pine! Brilliant tool.
Thread cutting made simple.
I have been using Simon's threading jig to make the threaded lids in my urns for quite a few years now. What I love about it is that I'm not restricted by the type of wood I can use to make the lids, with the aid of thin super glue I can put a thread in a piece of Balsa wood if I needed to. I tend not to use Balsa wood but I've used Walnut , Elm, Ash, Robinia, Oak, Bog Oak, Burr Elm and the list
goes on, all of which would be near impossible to hand chase a thread on to. I've even used it on Pewter.
Thanks Simon.
Thanks Simon
The Hope threading jig mk2 is an excellent piece of kit and makes thread turning easy . The instruction booklet explains step by step and an additional video shows the kit in use with additional tips to solve common problems
Well thought out and I should have bought it a long time ago if I had realised how simple it was to use.
